The Municipality of Premilcuore, located in the Casentino Forests National Park, is home to a unique biodiversity in its territory, including the presence of endemic Mediterranean trout, the subject of conservation projects. It has therefore implemented a tourism and educational enhancement project with a focus on sustainable fishing and the protection of Mediterranean trout in the Casentino Forest National Park.
The project included the creation of specialized educational hubs, the establishment of a “nature trail” along the Rabbi River with information boards and rest areas, and the establishment of an ichthyogenic plant to restore trout populations. A regulated fishing zone was also established for the promotion of sport fishing and environmental control. The goal was to raise community and visitor awareness of local biodiversity and promote sustainable tourism.
